Shrewsbury International School, Riverside JV Boys Football vs  International Community School Bangkok
On: Wednesday, 30 Sep 2020
Venue: Away

The JV boys team opened the 2020/21 season at a stroll, toying with ICS at times while also displaying the requisite killer touch with 5 well taken goals. This was a good start to the season though Monday's visit of BPS may prove a more exacting test of where precisely Coach Radcliffe’s team are.

Porsche’s 3 goals plus Taan’s brace, ensured the young JV side opened their account with a convincing win. Mit, deputising at No 3 in the absence of the injured Ryan Williams, Kawin and Oliver provided a solid base and an attacking outlet from defence. A sequence that had the ball zipping between Oliver, Jamie, Porsche and Taan before Porsche was found on the right to drill home showed the JV boys were in a high gear that they retained throughout. ICS were seeing close to zero possession and yet, a touch of flakiness was evident when the hosts did manage a foray into the attacking half, Mit being caught in possession, which allowed ICS back in the game. Porsche, playing in a midfield two, is in the form of his life, but it was still surprising to see the nonchalant ease with which he clipped his second past the stranded ICS goalkeeper. Stylish football has hardly been a trademark here in recent seasons at JV level, and it was a shame no parents were allowed to see a performance and goals that normally would have brought the house down, especially in the final 20 minutes when possession football was aligned with clinical finishing, Porsche claiming his hat-trick, Taan finishing with a brace and the woodwork denying further goals. Debutants Poon Poon and M also finished the match, with Radcliffe's emphasis on talented youth players starting to bear fruit with 6 of the 7 players on at the end being from Years 8 to 10.
