Shrewsbury 5-0 ICS

Goals: JJ, Kiyan (2), Poon-Poon (2)

Another ruthless performance from the Shrewsbury boys who scored 5 in normal time, adding 3 more in the last friendly third. Asking the two CB's to start slightly higher and wider, and the two wingers maintaing their width, ICS were stretched all over the pitch and gaps started to appear. Shrewsbury played intelligently, knowing exactly when to play through the thirds, when to switch play and then whether to link up in the final third with neat combinations or play in behind if space became available. Kiri created two wonderful assists, the one an incredibly deft touch to set up Poon-Poon which no-one saw coming. ICS rallied at times in front of a sizeable home crowd, however any attack was snuffed out pretty quickly and the Shrewsbury boys were aggressive without being reckless in pursuit of winning the ball back. Max did really well at RCB, reading the game, playing forwards quickly to release the right-winger. Panwa is also improving in his defensive role as he accrues more game-time. Gorngris grew into the game and began to play with some confidence down the right-hand side, combining well with the CM and no.9 and delivering some excellent balls into the box.

I am sure much tougher tests await, however another clean sheet, good structure in and out of possession and some fantastic combination play in and around the box which brought some well-taken goals.
