Dear Parents and Students,

I’m writing to keep you updated with regards to sport at Shrewsbury International School during season two, which finished last weekend with great success for our A teams. The standard of competition across Bangkok is high and getting better each year, it is extremely hard to win a BISAC championship at any age group!

Within season two we play Basketball, Touch Rugby, Rugby and Tennis at Varsity and Junior Varsity level. At the under 15, under 13 and U11 age groups we play Football and Badminton.

Our teams had the following success.

BISAC Football:

U11 Girls – Champions U11 Boys – 2nd Place

U13 Boys – Champion U13 Girls – 2nd Place

U15 Girls – Champions

BISAC Badminton

U15 Girls – Champions

BISAC Touch rugby

Junior Varsity – 2nd Place

FOBISIA Swimming

The overall level competition was extremely high. Shrewsbury had numerous individual medal winners and the school came sixth out of twenty four International schools, the largest number of schools ever to attend this event

FOBISIA Gymnastics

With approximately 700 pupils competing special mention must go to our Level 1 Junior Boys and Level 1 senior boys who came 1st in the team awards.

Thailand Inter Schools Sailing Competition

Our sailing team is gaining in strength every year. This year we came 1st in the individual Optimist fleet and 3rd overall in the Team racing.

Future Competitions

Please join wish the following teams well as they are currently hard at work preparing for their big competitions.

FOBISIA U13 Team – March

FOBISIA Golf Team – March

FOBISIA U11 team – May

Netball Team – South East Asia Championships, Singapore - March

We are all extremely proud of our pupils in all of our sporting teams. The success that our ‘A’ teams have are a reflection of the sporting programe but by no means the only one. We take pride in ensuring that all of our pupils have the opportunity to represent the school at A team through to D team level.

Perhaps, more important than our A teams successes last season was the fact that we competed with B,C and D teams at multiply age groups and different sports. Over 900 pupils represented the school within their chosen sport last season.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Rotheram
